Pilanesberg - June 2017

Deon Nimb a member of the Land Cruiser Club Southern Africa invited members to attend a weekend at the Bakgatla campsite in the Pilanesberg. We decided to join the group there. We like to spend more than a weekend at a place if possible so we left home on the Tuesday and arrived at the park a few hours later.

We picked a campsite near the fence near a tree.

I checked that the electric connection worked. It is winter and there is an electric blanket on the roof!

Next Sylvia and I laid out the groundsheet where we would place the tent which was to be used for dressing and changing and maybe even eating and chatting. A fan heater came along for that space.

The tent was unpacked and placed near the centre of the groundsheet. The legs of the tent were unfolded and Sylvia climbed inside and lifted the centre. I walked around the tent at least twice while wondering why the thing did not just go up. Sylvia was by that stage getting impatient and unable to see what was going on outside. I squawked that I did not know what to do. Sylvia said something including umbrella and it came to me in a flash of inspiration exactly what to do next. I extended the legs and viola the tent was up.

The game viewing was good. The company was good. The food was good.

The Wednesday the weather was absolutely freezing. After that fortunately it warmed up a bit.

Deon arrived on the Thursday and the others on Friday.

It is always pleasant to go away with the club. Thank you Deon for arranging it all.

On this trip we traveled just over a thousand kilometers.

We used two cameras and therefore there are two picture files. You just click on the link below and the show should play.

The longer file containing the campsite pictures is below:
